LIPS: Bright colored lips are in for Spring – on you though, not him. So while matte lipstick is the way to go when out with your girlfriends, not only does it require multiple touchups (which you won’t want to deal with during a hot date) but also, if the date goes in this direction it can end with the wrong kind of colorful kiss. To prevent this, but stay on trend, stick to lip stains. (They can be difficult to remove, though, so be sure you like the shade before the big night.)

HAIR: If it’s humid outside, and you have hair that reacts, be sure to stick with a style that works, even if it’s not your favorite “date 3 hair.” Ponytails and clean buns are both great options.

NAILS: Nude nails are in! Not only did they rock almost all of the Spring runway shows, but also look clean and neat and don’t show those pesky chips that can make even the prettiest manicure look messy by date-time.

SKINCARE: Don’t try anything new before a big date (the last thing you want is a bad reaction!), exfoliate a few days before to expose your freshest skin and then stick with your regular routine.

SCENT: Don’t forget deodorant (even if it’s not warm out, hormones and stress can make you sweat) and keep perfume clean and subtle.

EYES: Make your eyes pop so he can’t help but maintain eye contact by running your eyelash curler under hot water to heat it up for extra curl and layering on the mascara!

SHOES: If you don’t know what the night holds, be sure to wear shoes that allow for walking. Don’t worry, Mr. Right won’t ask you to walk 2 miles in your stilettos, but a few blocks may be part of the plan, so be sure you can walk in those sexy shoes.

PURSE
: It would be a shame if your date went awry because of a headache or blister or some other issue, so be sure to be prepared with a few purse staples: bandaids, Advil, a hair tie, lip balm and mints.

LOOK LIKE YOU: Regardless of what’s on trend, or what we suggest here, the most important thing is to be true to yourself and look like you usually look. If you usually wear red lipstick, great, rock it! But if you’ve never been a bold lipped gal, don’t start on date one. Same goes for your hair: a gorgeous blow out may make you feel your best, but if it’s the first and last time he’s bound to see your hair this way (until, perhaps, your wedding day), don’t do it.
