Do I Make the Call?
Q: I met a guy New Year's Eve and we really clicked. He asked for my phone number, but I have never heard from him. He lives about 1 hr. away and has custody of his 14 yr. old daughter. Should I try to contact him? Or assume he doesn't want to pursue a relationship?
I don't see any harm in contacting your guy but rather than call, I would go for a softer approach. Sending an email or a message on Facebook, if either is an option, is a more subtle strategy. Plus, you will avoid the risk of an awkward conversation lull that often happens when you catch someone off guard.
Still, be sure to keep in mind that New Year's Eve is a very tricky occasion as many people are looking for one night of chemistry and connection. If you reach out with this mindset you will be setting realistic expectations for yourself, and better prepared to handle a "good" or "not so good" response.
