Q: I am a single Mom with two kids, a boy and a girl. I finally started running outdoors but my busy schedule demands that I find time to exercise early in the mornings or late in the evenings. I am concerned about safety and wondering if there are products or guidelines I can follow to best protect myself?

Good for you for carving out time for yourself to get in a run. Safety is a big issue, especially with daylight getting shorter. Some things to remember: Ask a friend to join you, take along a dog, stay in well populated areas, run around a school track that often has lights and other people and be sure to wear reflective gear. You can buy reflective ankle and wrist bands that really let cars see where you are by the movement. Also, be sure to carry emergency info on you just in case you do find yourself in an unfortunate situation. Carrying a whistle is also a smart idea! Stay safe.
