Getting Back in the Game

Q: I am a 35 year old S.F. and have not had a date in three years. I am ready to put myself out there again but am not into setups, online dating or blind dates. Do you have any helpful suggestions that will me get started

Imagine you were looking for a new job but in doing so you refused to meet with a recruiter, get leads from colleagues or search online career boards for job openings. While I can suggest a myriad of creative alternatives to jump start your dating life, first ask yourself if in fact you are truly ready to start dating.

If you are really open to the possibility of meeting new people, chances are you would have no pre-set conditions for getting back in the game. Why, for example, would you rule out online dating when more than an estimated 120,000 marriages a year result from online dating services, according to 2007 report by Online Dating Magazine, a consumer report company for the industry?

I strongly urge you to take an inventory of what is keeping you from embracing the tried and true mechanisms that are already out there. Whether it is fear of rejection, commitment or moving into the unknown, unless you break down the fortress you have built around your heart no love in the world will be able to do so.

Once you have identified what it is that is stopping you from getting started, I encourage you to write to me again and together we can devise a plan that will have you dating in no time!
