Good Places to Go to Make a Good Impression
Q: What some great places or ideas for a first date?
That's a terrific question but before we pick places let's address the far too often neglected issue of pre-date etiquette, which can spoil first date success rates. When planning that first encounter, you simply have to make the other person feel special and important, so being respectful of their location, time and interests should be key considerations. For starters, don't wait until the last minute or leave it up to your date to decide what to do, there is nothing more insulting than a (wo)man without a plan! You should also never wait until 5:00 p.m. on the night of your planned date to confirm; do so the day/evening before and no later than that morning. And, when choosing a location, keep in mind that distance counts. Proximity to and from the other person's pick up place is not only considerate it can be a cost saver if you are dealing with cabs or transit fees..
Now even though we all have our own, or know of standard go-to date spots, some people may take offense to the dive-bar or feel intimidated by a tennis match, so try to get to know your audience. Since it is a first date, you should choose a place/activity that is conducive to talking, Save the movies, loud bars or concerts for later. Wine, cheese, piano or museum bars are all great choices. If dinner is an option, try to choose a casual and comfortable place, where you can enjoy small bites such as Spanish Tapas or Greek Mezzes. And don't be too fast to rule out the day-date. A long walk in a scenic setting followed by lunch at an outdoor cafe can seal the deal for your second date!
