House Hunting Heartache
Q: I recently started apartment hunting and my broker warned me that I was a triple risk candidate being that I am a single women from another country. Sure sounds like discrimination to me, do you agree?

Discrimination is illegal. Truthfully at the end of the day, regardless of your gender or your home country, if you are financially qualified to acquire and carry an apartment you should not run into trouble.
There are some issues if you are not a US citizen, such as your Visa length. For example, if the building doesn't allow part-time residences or pied-a-terre's you could run into a problem with the co-op board if you have an expiring Visa.
I think your broker should spend more time focusing on your finances and not your passport. I encourage you to find a new real estate broker, perhaps one with experience dealing with foreigners.
