Single Living Advice?
A couple of years ago I went to a birthday gathering, which included seven couples and myself. It was a mildly awkward situation. As the evening wore on, I observed (with one notable exception), the subtle, and sometimes not so subtle, disrespect, near contempt at times, with which at least one partner of each couple treated their loved one. I ended the evening feeling grateful that I was neither treating, nor being treated by, anyone else that insensitively. At the same time I took great comfort in that lone couple that appeared to love, if not at least, respect, one another. Recently I learned that the latter couple later went on to a bitter divorce. I guess you just never know. Yet, to this day, and despite being single myself, I still take great comfort when I see a couple that at least appears to appreciate each other's company. That's nice.
