Lori from Houston lives the life she loves

Q: Where Are You From?
Houston
Q: Best Solo Escape
A nice 30 minute drive to the beach with the wind in my hair, then sitting on the seawall to think.
Q: Biggest Accomplishment you achieved on your own?
My independence and being self-sufficient. Living my life to the fullest and taking risks that I don't regret, but learn from.
Q: The best place to meet new people?
Anywhere is good...you just have to open yourself up and smile.
Q: Most Inspiring Book, Movie or Person?
The Art of Happiness by the Dalai Lama...
Q: Funniest. Craziest, Worst Date Ever?
I went out with a guy that had his friend drive us around and drop us off because he didn't want to drink and drive. I felt like a teenager being dropped off by my parents. I was disappointed that the guy couldn't hold his liquor. At the club he mooned everyone on the dance floor....needless to say he never got a second date.
Q: Favorite Local Restaurant or Bar to go to Solo?
Absinthe in Houston...it's a small, quiet lounge.
Q: Have You Ever Been a Victim of Singlism?
Countless times, I'm often not invited to "couples" dinners or to different events b/c it's a "couples" thing. People treat you as a leper...then there's the constant question "So, why are you still single?"
Q: Words to live by.
“We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty." ~Maya Angelou
Q: What do you love most about being single?
I like my freedom to do whatever I want. Not having to answer to anyone, being able to meet different and interesting people along the way.
Q: Got any tips, advice, funny or inspiring story?
The best advice I can give is just to live your life, focus on the positive, and the rest will all fall into place. I find it funny when my married friends tell me to just enjoy my single time as long as I can....
