Q: I am a widower now going on 5 years. At first I didn't like being alone, and then I started dating a lady with whom I have now fallen in love. Despite my feelings, I realize that I don't want to marry again. What should I do?

It is understandable and very common for individuals who have experienced similar losses to shy away from marriage. You need to do what feels right to you and, based on your note, it sounds as if you are taking the positive actions to do so. At the same time, healthy companionship is important and does not have to lead to marriage! If you enjoy spending time with your lady, continue doing so.

My only advice is that you be clear about your intentions, now and in the long term, so that both of you are on the same page when it comes to your relationship.

Best of luck,

Sherri
