Q: My husband left me after 17 years of marriage. Our whole family (me plus two teenage girls) is covered by his policy and I am concerned that we will lose coverage once the divorce is finalized. Is he required to continue supporting our medical needs and if not what should I do to make sure we are protected?

You can continue the insurance through a federal law called COBRA. The court might even order him to pay the premium.  You can ask that he be required to pay for your health insurance as part of your divorce settlement or judgment - there's no way to predict how a court would rule without knowing all of the circumstances involved.
