Rediscovering Life as a Single Man

Q: Best Solo Activity?
Laundry. Just Kidding.
Rapelling down a cliff and doing a parachute tower jump! Gets the adrenaline going and makes you feel invincible. You realize that life is without limitations when you push yourself to try something you fear most.
Q: Biggest Accomplishment you achieved on your own?
When I was younger, I volunteered to help a class of "troubled" kids under a mentoring program. I can still say to this day that my greatest accomplishment was helping these kids, who spent years in special programs and had accepted the fact they were different, to be better than what was expected of them. All they really needed was someone to appreciate the things they could do and offer. Luckily, I was the someone.
Q: Best Restaurants to dine out solo?
Haven't really ever dined out solo. That's what friends are for!
Q: How did you stay positive after your divorce?
Knowing that my experiences to that point were going to take me into a new and better direction. It did almost right away!
Q: Your perfect "get-away from it all" spot?
The gym. Nothing beats refocusing pent up energy on a good workout. For me, it brings some clarity and distracts me from almost all of my problems.
Q: Most Inspiring Book?
Catcher in the Rye - J.D. Salinger
Q: What is it like living on your own and not being tied to anyone after years of being in a relationship?
At first it was quite intimidating. You always feel that certain presence of someone else and never really feel like you're 100% on your own. Eventually, I grew out of that. The freedoms allowed me to try new things and reconnect with old friends, and provided me with time to focus on my needs. I will admit though, I still only sleep on one side of the bed.
Q: What is your current outlook as you get back into the dating game?
I think my future relationships are going to be very good. I know what I want most in a relationship and in a person. Not everyone is perfect, but there are certain things we need to have a solid foundation. From there, anyone can build a great relationship.
Q: Words to live by?
"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then is not an act, but a habit." -Aristotle
Q: Best way to beat the blues?
Friends. The best cure for all your problems.
Q: What do you love most about being single?
That the doors of life are wide open. I can go anywhere and do anything. The challenge is figuring out which door to go through first.
