Running and Reproductive Organs

Q: Several months ago I started a home based business and decided to give up my gym membership. I began running outdoors and am in the best shape of my life but am constantly aching. I want to have children someday but am scared that too much running can do damage to a woman’s organs. Any advice?

It’s great to hear you have gotten in the best shape of your life by taking up running outdoors, a great calorie burner. You mention you are constantly aching, but because I’m not clear on where you are aching, I will address two possibilities. First, If your muscles are aching after your run or a day or two later, you may need to take time off to allow your muscles to recover. Be sure not to increase you mileage too much, too fast.  In general, running does not affect your organs in a negative way so if in fact your organs are aching, I strongly urge you to see your doctor to rule out any serious issues.
