Q: I recently had a slip and fall injury in a local coffee shop. I desperately need a lawyer who is affordable and can cover this case. Do any attorneys offer sliding scale rates for singles?

The bad news is that attorneys do not offer different rates based on marital status. The good news is your case is very amenable to a contingency fee arrangement, where you would not be responsible for attorneys fees (beyond court costs and expenses) unless there is a favorable settlement or court verdict/award. Contingency fees facilitate access to the courts for those who are unable to pay attorneys fees in civil lawsuits.
