By Amy Miller   Beauty, my mother always warned me, is pain.  And for many years I became victim to the torture and shame I put myself through in order to look pretty.  Though I am blessed with a mane of thick and lustrous hair, the blessing comes with consequences - my tresses grow like wildfire and even when there is no water in the desert it seems that weeds grow, not only on my head, but all over my body.
