Q: What do you love most about being single?

The freedom to go where I want when I want.
Being able to maintain close friendships and relationships.
Learning how to do things I wouldn't necessarily otherwise learn how to do.

Q: Best spot to dine out alone in your area?

The Alamo Drafthouse (you can watch a movie, have a meal and nobody knows you're there alone because it's dark)

Q: What advice would you give to singles that have put their lives on hold until “they meet the one?”

Start living. If you're waiting for the right person to start living you're going to meet people who define you. Define your own life first, figure out who you are and inevitably you'll end up with the person you're meant to be with. Being a fuller person gives you more options for joy, not less.

Q: Any self-confidence boosters for people who suffer dating jitters?

I always remind myself that this is not my last chance! This is merely a meeting, a get together, a possibility. It is one of many. I always try to just be my usual self on a date instead of my best self. Then I know right away if its a possible match.

Q: Breaking up with friends is one of the hardest things to do. What’s the best way to handle it?

I wish I knew. This is really hard. Remember to be gracious and loving even if you're hurt to hell. And admit that you're hurt and hope that maybe one day there can be a new friendship that grows out of the old one.

Q: How does one bounce back when all of their friends suddenly get married?

You can't bounce back. This is a big adjustment and it will take a while. You don't have to forget about your coupled friends but do seek out single friends. I wish I had sought out single friends sooner instead of just wasting away with coupled friends who couldn't offer the same kind of support as single ones. It will take a while for these new friendships to prove themselves and it is work sometimes to make new friends, but in the end it pays off.

Q: Any other words of wisdom?

There is a great amount of resources online for singles including Single Edition and my blog, Singlutionary.  I felt very isolated and alone as a single (even though I live in a big city) until I began networking with singles online. Use the online resources to give you inspiration and courage to tackle your single life and make it into the best blessing!
