Q: Ever since I hit 30 I noticed stretch marks on my inner thighs. I was wondering if toning muscle can help in tightening the skin and reducing the appearance of these lines.

Stretch marks are not fun. By the time we reach our 30’s, stretch marks find their way to our hips, thighs and stomach areas in a number of ways. Child birth, weight loss, weight gain, yo yo dieting and body building all can contribute to those annoying lines and marks. It’s very difficult to ban the stretch marks all together, but there are a few known secrets to reducing their appearance.

Keeping the skin hydrated is one of the biggest remedies. Drinking water helps from the inside out, and applying lotions and creams to keep the surface of the skin moisturized is key. Eating foods rich in omega 3 fats is also a good idea. Exercise will not rid you of the marks completely but will aid in diminishing the appearance in that it tones the area, tightening the muscle beneath the skin. Applying self tanner will also help blend the marks and a bonus is that your legs appear slimmer the darker they are!
