The Truth About Detox Cleansing
Q: My trainer advised me that a cleansing juice diet can help me shed my last 5 pounds. Is this type of food program enough to keep energy levels high given that I am a single mom who needs to be on high performance all the time?

A cleansing juice diet will certainly clear out the system and may even help shed a few lbs of water weight in the process, but it's best to enlist medical supervision or a certified nutritionist. Depending on how long you are looking to use the juice diet, your energy levels as a single mom are extremely important to consider. And the fact that you operate at a high performance level is even more of an issue. Juice diets tend to be low in calories (which translate to energy - which you need!)
Under medical supervision or working with a nutritionist, they will help guide you with the best approach. I would recommend starting with one day and having solid food on hand should you find yourself in a difficult or weak situation. We need food to function, much like a car needs fuel. Anytime you take it away, you run the risk of low performance or literally "running out of gas." If you are looking to lose the last 5 lbs of your weight loss, I highly recommend eating whole, clean(natural), low calorie foods and increasing your cardiovascular workouts. If you do decide to do a cleansing juice diet, be smart, safe and sure to include many nutritious fruits and veggies. Good luck.
