Q:A friend of mine was recently prescribed testosterone cream to help with clitoral stimulation. I am in my late 40's and wondering if this is something I too need to inquire about now that I am hitting menopause.

Becoming menopausal or having a friend who has been prescribed testosterone cream is not a reason to inquire about it for yourself unless your own desire level has lessened with the change in your hormones.  Decreased testosterone which occurs in both males and females as we get older can affect desire, but other factors, such as emotional and medical ones, may contribute to how an individual feels about having sex.

If you are a female who is reaching menopause and sense a corresponding decrease in your libido, you might want to get a consultation with an endocrinologist, a medical doctor or as an alternative option, a naturopath.  Remember though that menopause is a normal part of life and that we all change gradually and individually as we age.  You may not need help with your clitoral stimulation as your friend did-don't anticipate that you will.  And don't forget vaginal stimulation...
