| It seems like everyone is in the mood for change this month, and we're not just talking politics. The buzz this September is also about home makeovers. The good news is that it need not take much effort or expense to transform your home. You can give a room a quick facelift with the right accents and accessories. Here are some places where you can find unique luxe items to suit your style: | ![]() |
Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams: For years this dynamic design pair has offered relaxed room decor that is uber modern and affordable! Not only can you find their stuff in Crate and Barrel and Pottery Barn, Bloomingdale's kicked off August by launching the Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams collection of furniture and accessories in their department stores. The good news is that with 16 retail outlets in the United States and 3 more scheduled to open by the end of year, they are no longer just a supplier. This season, as gray wood finishes step into the spotlight, Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams are offering collections of light gray finished tables, so be sure to check them out!
Jonathan Adler: If mod patterns and the groovy club style is the look you want to achieve for your home, take a peak at the Jonathan Adler collection. From frisky home furnishings to one-of-a-kind wallpaper prints, you will find playful pieces for the grown-up home. Plus, if you're in the market for ceramics, his geometrically designed forms are there to compliment. Each of the Jonathan Adler locations offers interior-design services so you don't have to worry if you don't have an eye for what can go where.
Tweed and Hickory: This long-time Canadian fashion retailer finally goes full-house! A comprehensive and most impressive line of tools, gadgets and accessories for chefs that have never before been available in Canada can now be accessed nationwide through their newly designed website. You can dress up your table with colorful Jamie Oliver serve ware or add a touch of glass to your bar with Bomioli stemware and decanters. Don't fret if you live in the U.S.A, they deliver internationally!
Wisteria: This high-end catalogue company was founded by a husband and wife team who turned a passion for antiquing into a professional career. Expect to see flea-market type finds with international flair that you will never see at Pier 1 Imports. In particular we liked the distressed table trays, French country console and Chinese Cerulean container.
Moxology: New to the scene, this is an online shop where you can find more vintage ware. Though the selection is still small, you will likely pick-up some precious faux-antiques. (* Editors Note: At the time of publishing the Moxology Website was down but we hope it goes back up!)
Z-Gallerie: Enter a Z-Gallerie store and you will feel like you have been transported to a Middle Eastern souk or trendy New York thrift shop. From African sculptures to Moroccan stools, the place is brimming with decorative finds from the four corners of the world. There is lots to choose from and always great deals to be found, a trip to Z Gallery is sure to get your decorating juices flowing.
Tabula Tua: Why get snubbed by the wedding registry folks at Bloomingdale's when you can purchase all your high-end stuff at your discretion? Chicago-based Tabula Tua is a premier tabletop store that carries everything high-end, including lines the department stores do not have, like Mariposa, Match Pewter and Terre de Provence.
