Q: Biggest accomplishment you achieved on your own?

This is hard to say but I think it would be my graduation with Distinction from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies with a Master's Degree. It was a tough program and I was proud not only to obtain my degree but also to do so with Distinction on my oral examination.

Q: Favorite solo activity?

I enjoy biking on the local paths in Maryland and Virginia. The Mount Vernon Trail in Virginia and the Bethesda Trolley Trail in Maryland are my favorites. I go to a Starbucks and relax and then turn around for home.

Q: What would you say is the biggest challenge single men in your city face today?

Washington, D.C. is still in some ways a very transient city and one where many people work long hours. It can be tough to find time to just relax and meet someone.

Q: Best way for single men to meet new male friends?

One can meet at activities for groups such as the Young Benefactors with the Smithsonian Institution, going to see baseball games at the National's new park or meeting through the various Meetup Groups in the area.

Q: Name a must read book(s) for men?

The Greatest Game by Richard Bradley about the 1978 Yankee-Red Sox one game playoff.

Q: Worst thing that a woman can do on a date?

Talk about other guys that you know.

Q: Best Local Bar or Restaurant to go to?

Clyde's Restaurant in Georgetown, Geranio in Old Town Alexandria or the Four Seasons Hotel in Georgetown, which has a nice lounge for a first date.

Q: Your favorite “mancations?”

A weekend trip to New York City, where I grew up. Good plays, good food and a game at Yankee Stadium.

Q: Must-have car, safety or home gadget(s)?

I find my IPOD Touch is something I can't do without. I listen to it when I work out and commute to and from work. My calendar and contacts are on it as well.

Q: Advice for others?

Don't let setbacks get you down. I have been out of work a few times and once that was the same year my Dad died. I kept going and bounced back. It seems like a cliché but good times do follow tough times.

Q: What do you love most about being single?

Being able to choose when to go out or stay at home though I would be happy to trade some of this freedom to share my life with someone special. Yet the ability to choose what you want to do and when you want to do it is something that is a benefit of being single.
